Group dating app connecting circles of friends through shared experiences
The Challenge
The traditional online dating market, dominated by 1-on-1 platforms like Tinder or Bumble, frequently generates cold, artificial, and awkward interactions.
Despite strong demand from young adults to meet new people alongside their trusted friend circles, no native digital solution existed to connect groups of friends around shared plans (events, padel or skiing, trips, or nights out). The challenge was to conceptualize a seamless user experience and technical infrastructure capable of turning the friction of solo dating into a collective, spontaneous, and highly viral social journey.
Roles
The Solution
End-to-end product proposition developed from the ground up, translating the «Dating with friends» positioning into a structured platform for university students and young professionals:
- Product Design & Value Proposition: Conceptualization of multi-group creation user flows, collective matchmaking, and curated thematic plan coordination.
- Go-To-Market (GTM) Strategy: Acquisition channel roadmap focused on university environments, campus ambassadors, WhatsApp messaging campaigns, and social media content.
- Technical Architecture & Scalability: Microservices-based Cloud infrastructure (Scala, Play Framework, Akka actors, and PostgreSQL) ensuring high availability and instant responsiveness under peak traffic.
Outcomes & Strategic Value
The project successfully completed research, product definition, technical architecture design, and go-to-market planning, fully validated and ready for commercial execution.
Due to budget restructuring and funding reallocation prior to app store release, public rollout was paused. Nevertheless, the delivered work was established as a 100% ready-to-market strategic asset, with a proven highly-scalable architecture and an articulated launch plan.
